May is Clean Air Month!
In honor of Clean Air Month, Quality DME wants to remind you to replace and clean your supplies regularly!
Did you know that the quality of your air could affect your Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy? If you don’t replace your supplies regularly, you could risk breathing in unclean air while sleeping at night.
Think about your CPAP Mask … it is something you should use every night along with your supplies. You breathe into it every night, and unfortunately, that means it fills with germs.
Eventually, if not cleaned correctly, you will be breathing in air that is considered dirty and full of germs and possibly mold. This can lead to not only you getting sick, but also a decrease in the success of your Sleep Apnea treatment.
Make A Schedule
Quality DME suggests that you create a cleaning schedule that you can follow. Put the supplies that need to be cleaned daily in one section and the supplies that need to be cleaned weekly in another section. If you stay on top of the schedule, it will become your natural routine over time.
It is so important to clean your mask, supplies and humidifier and to get replacements when needed. Staying on top of your treatment is truly vital to your health.
You wash your hands before eating every day (hopefully) because you are going to use them while you eat… so why wouldn’t you do the same with your machine and supplies since you will be using them while you sleep?
