Sleep is so important to your overall health and well-being!
Sleep affects every part of your body. If you don’t get enough sleep at night you can end up with some serious chronic health problems. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services states that on average, people need between 7-9 hours of sleep per night with infants, children, and teens needing more.
Not many people put to sleep as a priority when they think about their overall health. Sleep is what repairs your body to be ready to take on another day. Staying on top of your sleep and getting the correct amount of rest your body needs at night will prevent things like weight gain and heart disease.
Effects of Sleep Deprivation
According to Healthline, sleep deprivation drains your mental abilities and puts your physical health at risk. Some of the effects sleep deprivation has on the body are memory issues, trouble concentrating, weakened immunity, high blood pressure, and risk of diabetes.
Sleep deprivation is usually caused by an underlying sleep disorder like Sleep Apnea. Some major signs of sleep deprivation include excessive sleepiness, yawning, and irritability. If sleep deprivation continues for long enough, you could start to have psychological risks including anxiety, depression, and paranoia.
